At Franchise Fest, Ben will be talking about franchise growth through better selling. How to excite franchisees so that they sell more, creating a ‘sales process’ that stops deals falling through the gaps, adding key phrases and structure to keep franchisees all selling the same and the importance of religiously using CRM, Social Media and Web together. 

 

Greg Nathan – keynote speaker

Founder of Franchise Relationships Institute

Our Keynote speaker for day one will be international franchise relationships expert, Greg Nathan. Greg has been a business psychologist for 35 years and is Founder of the highly respected Franchise Relationships Institute. His unique insights into how franchisees and franchisors can maximize their success comes from his extensive research, and practical work, with over 500 franchise brands and over 40,000 franchisees. Greg is author of several best-selling franchising books including Profitable Partnerships, and developer of many influential franchising models such as The Franchise E-Factor. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards for his contribution to the global franchising sector, including the 2018 IFA Crystal Compass Award for Franchise Leadership, and induction into the Australian Franchise Hall of Fame.

Greg has a reputation as a highly engaging and informative presenter. At Franchise Fest, he will be speaking on ‘The Science of Growing a Prosperous Franchise Network’. Including research findings on how to effectively recruit and support franchisees as they move through the franchise lifecycle. We can’t wait!

Jason Todd – keynote speaker

Trainer at Art of Brilliance

We’re delighted to have Jason Todd join us as our keynote speaker on day two.

Jason and the Art of Brilliance team, specialise in training and development to make you a more positive, motivated and brilliant person. Most people are a million miles away from feeling as great as they could, so in short, they will remind you how to be your best self.

Jason first found his feet in recruitment. This is where things kicked off, big style for him! He helped build a recruitment business that floated on the AIM stock market for £22 million. He went on to establish and sell a further 2 recruitment consultancies, before realising there was more to happiness and success than cash, trinkets, flash cars and shiny things.

Jason’s keen to point out that it wasn’t mid-life or a crisis, more of a re-awakening. He took time out to study and practice a variety of personal development subjects including NLP, Hypnosis and EFT. But it’s Syd Banks’ 3-Principles that snared him. ‘Inside-out thinking’ is his specialism. Jason’s marinated himself in the ‘Art of Brilliance’ messages and is now on a mission to share what he knows. His keynotes are full of humour, enlightened thinking and common sense.

Matt O’Neil 

Founder of Franchise Advisory Services

Matt has a wealth of knowledge and credibility in the Franchise Industry and was recently voted one of the Top 20 faces of franchising in the UK by What Franchise Magazine.

Matt has more than 20 years experience in the wold of franchising and has helped hundreds of people realise their dream of becoming business owners.

The former owner and Sales Director of the drinks, snack delivery and vending franchise SNACK-IN-THE-BOX in association with both Cadbury & Mars, he recruited the majority of the franchise network. Following a successful sale of his business, Matt became the Head of UK Recruitment with the award-winning white collar franchise Expense Reduction Analysts.

Matt will be joining us on our day one panel, sharing his advice on all things franchise recruitment.

Sue Tumelty

Founder and Executive Director of The HR Dept

Sue developed an interest in HR mid-career, her journey took her to national HR director in the health care sector and then an interim HR director for several blue chips. Over the years Sue developed a passion for smaller businesses which is when she started her business, The HR Dept. Since then she has become an entrepreneur, franchisor, published author and international exporter.

Sue is the Founder of the fastest growing and largest HR Franchise, helping HR professionals to run their own HR businesses supporting SMEs all over the UK and Ireland and Australia. 

Sue knows all too well, the world of work can be a stressful place – particularly so in franchising, where some franchisees are often self-employed and experience irregular income for the first time, impacting their motivation, performance and interaction with colleagues, customers and clients. Sue will be talking to us about how to cultivate positive mental health mindsets, manage stress and understand how to tackle these issues for yourself, your staff and your franchisees. 

Theo Millward

Franchisor and Managing Director of Swimtime UK

In 2016, Theo took the opportunity to purchase the UK’s largest independent, award winning swim school, Swimtime. 

Theo will be sharing with us his journey since the change in ownership, where Swimtime has focussed relentlessly on process innovation, seeing a surge in growth, the relaunch of the brand and the deployment of a ground-breaking management system that brings cutting edge digitisation, machine learning and artificial intelligence to the business. This project has received global recognition, being shortlisted for no less than 4 major awards recognising the transformation he and the team at Swimtime have achieved. Involved in the sale of businesses, including franchise resales, Henry has supported many business owners into realising the next stage of their life-goal. Tommy Gentleman – Keynote speaker

Entrepreneur, podcast host, author and life coach

Tommy Gentleman is an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker and coach. He has been helping people to achieve positive changes in body and mind since he started out as a Personal Trainer back in 2007.

​Tommy has since launched a Personal Training Studio business, a Gym, a successful private coaching business, a 2-day personal development event, a 3-day retreat, a podcast and achieved many accolades in both his personal and professional life; including a world championship in ju-jitsu and “Young Business Person of the Year 2017.”

Working closely with his clients, he helps individuals and teams to perform at their absolute best through his high-level coaching and training on a physical, mental & emotional level. Tommy is a master of mind-set and emotional motivation and will do whatever it takes to help his clients unlock and release their full potential.

Suzie McCafferty

CEO of Platinum Wave Franchising

With nearly 20 years of first-hand international franchising experience, Suzie is a well-known personality in the franchising world. She has been a Judge for the bfa’s Franchisor and Franchisee of the Year Awards and is the longstanding Chairperson of the Scottish Franchise Forum. 

Having franchised her own printer cartridge business from a single retail shop in Edinburgh to a network of over 70 franchised outlets across 6 countries from the Caribbean to the Middle East, it is fair to say Suzie’s consultancy comes with an authenticity that is hard to match. Prior to founding Platinum Wave, Suzie was the Franchise Director and Board Member of national recruitment franchise and £30m turnover franchise network Select Appointments.

Suzie is also a Non-Executive Director with two of the UK’s leading franchise brands, Right at Home UK and Premier Education Group.

Saleem Anwar

Commercial Director of Dynamis, publishers of FranchiseSales.com and BusinessesForSale.com

Saleem is commercial director at Dynamis – publishers of leading franchise recruitment websites FranchiseSales.com and BusinessesForSale.com. He leads their team of franchise recruitment specialists, ensuring they understand the needs of each of their clients, in order to deliver the best campaign results possible.

Saleem will be running a breakout session on how to target franchise buyers online and sell more franchises. He’ll be covering what franchise buyers really want, the psychology of the enquiry process and create engaging and effective online adverts.

Kieran James

Managing Director of Stryde

Kieran James is a husband, father of two, amateur athlete, relentless reader and has a passion for education; particularly financial. He is Managing Director of Accountancy firm Stryde, whose aim is to provide financial clarity to the franchise sector through services such as business plan creation, financial training, accountancy and supporting the automation of financial processes. 

He’s also Non Executive Director of the Children’s Activities Association, a not for profit organisation that helps parents, schools, nurseries and children’s activities providers to raise the standard of children’s activity provision

Dave Pearce

Client Account Director at Coconut Creatives

Dave has over 25 years of experience in building businesses and leading teams ranging from large corporate PLC’s to owner-run SME’s. He has extensive knowledge and demonstrable results in Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Consulting, Business Analysis, Business start-up’s, acquisitions & sales and Franchising.

Most of his corporate career was in Financial Services where he formed the first Financial Services Division of a PLC Housebuilder, which he ran for 7 years as MD and latterly as Sales Director for a National Mortgage Broker Franchise.

Dave will be joining our Franchise Recruitment Panel on Day 1 to share his vast experiences with the group. Be sure not to miss it!

Adam Lovelock

Director and Head of Online Marketing at Coconut Creatives

Adam studied Marketing Management (BA Hons) before working in several Marketing Management positions after graduating. He then founded his first business in 2007 and has never looked back.

Adam is a seasoned marketer, online marketing evangelist and experienced entrepreneur in the ‘tech’ arena. He is also the Co-Founder of Astonish Email, which successfully launched a product into the franchise market, which is now used by 1000’s of businesses worldwide, giving him a wealth of experience in the sector.

Adam Knight

Director and Head of Technology at Coconut Creatives

Adam has an extensive online marketing background. He has consulted with some of the most successful businesses in the country with their online marketing and internal systems. He taught himself how to develop websites and software, co-founded and built the much loved Astonish Email marketing system along with fellow Coconut Adam Lovelock.

He loves combining technology and creativity to find the best solution to a business’ need. He won the Daisy International Coolest Techie award (South & Southwest) for his achievements so far and for his passion getting young people into IT and building good careers for themselves.

Mark Harman

Director and Video Producer at Red Book Productions

Mark studied Film and Cinema Technologies (BA Hons), then founded Red Book Productions in 2011.

Mark has worked with hundreds of different businesses to help them create video content and establish themselves in their market. He also founded Video Toolkit in 2016 to help smaller businesses create their own videos and learn how to measure the results that they can attain from video marketing.

Andy McCarroll

Andy has been been working with exciting brands since leaving university and has learned a lot over the years about what it takes to grow a business from start up to serious national player - in some cases international.

Since 2010 however, he has jumped into the franchise industry with both feet! Franchises start off the same way as any company does; small, with no money and a person with a big idea and a serious work ethic and Andy loves nothing more than working with people like that. Andy is passionate about franchising as a business format that allows a successful, proven business to grow. 

Carl Reader

Carl Reader is chairman at multi-award winning franchise accounting firm d&t and author of The Franchising Handbook. ​He has previously served as Affiliate Chair and Board Member at the British Franchise Association. Carl has spoken to global franchising audiences about best practice in franchising, and has worked with countless household name brands. He has been recognised as one of the '20 faces of franchising' by What Franchise magazine, is a judge of many industry awards, and regularly contributes to the trade press.

Catherine Monson

Catherine became CEO of FASTSIGNS International, Inc. in 2009, bringing over 25 years of franchising and management experience. In 2009, she received the International Franchise Association (IFA) Bonny LeVine Award in recognition of her contributions to the growth of the franchising industry and in 2010, the Dallas Business Journal named her a top Women Industry Leader in the Dallas Metroplex.

In 2012, Catherine appeared on the Emmy Award-winning series Undercover Boss to learn new ways to advance the FASTSIGNS® brand. In 2013, she was named an “Innovator and Influencer” by Sign and Digital Graphics Magazine. In 2015, she received the IFA’s first Franchise Action Network “FAN of the Year” award for her advocacy work on behalf of the franchising community. In 2016, she was selected as a Soderstrom Society Inductee for her contributions to the printing and graphic communications industry and was also honored with the 2016 Leadership Award from the Women That Soar organization.

Under Monson’s leadership, FASTSIGNS International, Inc. received the 2016 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition presented by the Department of Defense to employers for their exemplary support of National Guard and Reserve members.

Catherine has served on the Board of Directors of the IFA since 2008 and is currently Vice-Chair and will become Chairwoman in February 2020. She has spoken at every IFA event, sharing franchising best practices for over 20 years. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of Brain Balance, and on the Board of Directors of the franchisor Big Blue Swim School.

She is a keynote speaker at many franchise industry events, as well as at many sign and visual graphics industry events. Jazz Mino

Jenni Dunman

Jenni Dunman is a franchisor of Daisy First Aid but also a multi-business owner, angel investor and seed mentor. 

Jenni is fascinated by psychology and how the subconscious mind works. She has spent the last 15 years learning and proving how to retrain the brain.

Laura Budd

Coconut Creative's very own Laura Budd studied performing arts at college training in acting, singing and dance, she later received a degree in English Literature from the University of Winchester. Laura has been performing since she was 7 years old. She has performed with Kerry Ellis (Cats, Wicked, Rent, We Will Rock You), in her backing choir, as part of her UK tour and has taken part in musical theatre workshops at Pineapple Dance Studios and various showcases in London. 


In October 2019 she performed in the Basingstoke Variety Show and is part of cabaret performance group. She has played Pilar in Andover Musical Theatre Company’s productions of Legally Blonde, The Mistress in Evita and has recently been cast as Julia inThe Wedding Singer and been in the ensemble for The Pyjama Game.

Pip Wilkins

Pip Wilkins QFP is the Chief Executive of The British Franchise Association, non-profit organisation influencing success in franchising through standards, representation and education. Pip is a confident, dynamic and resourceful Chief Executive who enjoys helping others to expand their skills. She has a proven ability to initiate, develop and launch new initiatives for the greater good of the franchise industry and is passionate about standards and ensuring people have the right information to make the right decisions. She has appeared on television, in magazines and regularly speaks on franchising and franchising best practice.

Red Boswell

Red Boswell is President of the International Franchise Professionals Group, IFPG. During his nearly 2 decades in franchising he has founded a franchise organization and built it to 148 territories before selling it. He has also consulted for dozens of franchisors and served as Chief Development Officer of 2 global brands - each with over 700 franchises.

Sean Goldsmith is a Special Advisor to Franchisors and large corporates and has a long history of success in the industry. He is currently heading up a mastermind of close on 300 franchise networks and is actively helping them solve the serious problems created by Covid19.

He is a mentor to franchisors, a coach and a Non-Exec who is currently offering Critical Strategic planning services to both the Franchise and Non Franchise Industry.

Sean is also involved in the development of Social Franchising by helping good causes expand through the principles of franchise success. 

Steph Gutmann

Steph is an MCIPR Copywriter, crafting words to solve people's copywriting problems, by pulling the right words together.

She’s had over 20 years’ experience with various forms of copywriting and communicating, and enjoys inspiring others to see the power contained in the written word. The pen is still mightier than the sword, but like fencers need to learn how to use their tools, learning how to write efficiently is fundamentally vital if you’re expecting to have your copy read.

Steve Heroux

Theo Millward is a graduate of Lancaster University with a BBA in Management with experience in IT consultancy at IBM and Finance at Grant Thornton. In 2016 Theo purchased UK swim school, Swimtime.

Swimtime is a UK based franchised swim school operating from over 300 sites and teaching 20,000 children a week.

Since 2016, Swimtime has undergone an award-winning digital transformation, driven by the development of an in-house platform, Swimcloud. In 2019, this project won both the UK Digital Experience Awards as well as the International Customer Experience Awards. It was the only leisure organisation and the only SME in both events. This technology is now on the market under the brand FranScape.

Vicki Mitman

Vicki Mitman is an Executive Coach and Mentor.  She specialises in performance coaching and is passionate about helping clients to unlock their potential and bring out the best in their teams.  Vicki regularly speaks on topics such as motivation, mindset and building resilience (both personally and in business), and provides coaching to individuals and organisations.
